Superior launched in Hamilton in 2020 and the city is still where most of our work happens. That means we know what the housing stock throws at you: narrow lower-city lots with rear laneway access, century homes on clay fill, settled walkways that were poured on nothing, and Mountain subdivisions where the grading was signed off and then quietly stopped working.
We cover the full city — lower city, Mountain, east end, and out to Stoney Creek, Ancaster, Dundas, Waterdown and Binbrook. Concrete and hardscape outside, foundation and waterproofing below grade, flooring, painting and drywall inside, for homeowners, landlords and property managers.
What's different here
The $507 driveway approval nobody mentions
The portion of your driveway that crosses the City boulevard is Hamilton's, not yours. Widening or adding an approach needs a Residential Driveway Access Approval — a non-refundable application fee, City-set approach widths, a minimum clearance from hydrants and poles, and the City does that section itself. Private contractors aren't permitted to build it. We handle the application and build everything on your side of the line.
Site Alteration and Heritage Permits
Grading changes can require a Site Alteration Permit separate from any building permit. Properties in Durand, Kirkendall, and Hamilton's conservation districts need a Heritage Permit for visible front-yard hardscape. Both get confirmed before we quote.
Conservation Hamilton
Ravine, valley, escarpment-slope, wetland, floodplain and shoreline properties sit in HCA regulated areas, where grading, fill and structures including decks and retaining walls need written approval first.
Clay, fill and frost
Much of the city sits on clay that moves with moisture, and a lot of the older flatwork was laid on whatever was in the hole. We excavate to real depth and compact in lifts — the invisible part of the job that decides the next twenty years.
