Finishes
Broom finish for grip on drives and walks, smooth trowel where it stays covered, exposed aggregate and stamped patterns — slate, ashlar, plank — where the slab is the feature.
Driveways, patios, walkways, steps, pads and paving restoration — poured, finished and cured to survive Hamilton winters.
Concrete is the part of a property people notice last and complain about first. A driveway that ponds water, a patio that heaves after one winter, front steps pulling away from the house — almost always a base or a mix problem, not a finishing problem.
We pour flatwork the way it should be done: excavate to depth, compact granular base in lifts, set forms true to grades that move water away from the building, reinforce for the loading, and specify an air-entrained mix for anything that will meet a de-icer.

Flatwork that meets road salt gets an air-entrained mix in the right CSA exposure class. It costs a little more at the truck and it's the difference between a surface that lasts and one that flakes.
Rebar or mesh sized to the slab and its loading, chaired off the base rather than pulled up during the pour.
Every slab falls away from the structure at roughly 2%. Where a yard traps water we solve it before the concrete goes in, not after.
Commercial concrete is a different animal: heavier loads, accessibility requirements, and a site that usually has to stay open while you work. We pour to the spec and sequence around your trading hours.
We walk the property with you — grades, drainage, access, what you actually use the space for. No guesswork from a satellite photo.
A layout, material selections and a transparent line-by-line price. You see what you're paying for before anything is ordered.
Hamilton driveway approvals, building permits, conservation authority and heritage approvals — we confirm what your address needs and handle the application.
Base prep done properly, a crew that cleans up daily, and a walkthrough at the end where we go over maintenance and stand behind the work.
Foot traffic after 24–48 hours, light vehicles after about a week, heavy loads after 28 days. Those windows stretch in cold weather — a late-fall slab wants longer.
That's scaling, and it usually traces to a mix without air entrainment, an over-watered pour, premature finishing, or de-icing salt on first-winter concrete. We cover the causes in detail on the blog.
Both. Resurfacing and paving restoration make sense where the base is still sound. Where it isn't, patching buys a season — and we'll say so.
For the portion on your own property, usually not. For the apron across the City boulevard, Hamilton requires a Residential Driveway Access Approval and the City does that portion itself — private contractors aren't permitted to. We cover the process on the blog.
Superior Landscaping Design Construction recently completed a driveway extension for us and also refinished the existing interlock, leveling it out beautifully. They topped everything off with a sealer coat, and the end result looks fantastic. The price was reasonable, the workmanship was solid, and the team was great to work with. I highly recommend them if you're looking for quality landscaping and driveway work done right.
